Areas we cover
Halethorpe sits where Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County and Howard County come together — and inspection coverage changes sharply as you cross those lines.
Where you live decides what you can get inspected nearby
Maryland licenses each inspection station for specific vehicle classes, and publishes the whole register. Run the numbers by ZIP code and a pattern shows up fast: there are plenty of stations for cars, and almost none for anything heavy.
Across the nine towns below there are 116 licensed inspection stations. Four of them hold Class C, and three of those four are in this shop’s own ZIP code. That is the whole reason people drive here from three counties — not marketing, just supply. Every figure on these pages was read off the state register in September 2026 and you can check any of it yourself.

Emissions testing does not vary by town
Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, Howard County and Baltimore City are all VEIP jurisdictions, so the emissions rules are identical wherever on this page you are driving in from. No repair shop performs that test — Maryland runs it at its own stations and kiosks only.
The nearest one to this shop is confusingly named: the station called “Baltimore City, West” is physically at 1411 S. Edgewood Street, Halethorpe, MD 21227, with a 24-hour kiosk. Coming from Anne Arundel, Glen Burnie (721 E. Ordnance Road) is usually closer; from Howard County, Columbia (6340 Woodside Court).
What does change by county is where you title the vehicle afterwards. Baltimore County and city addresses generally use the Reisterstown Road branch or Essex; Anne Arundel uses the Glen Burnie headquarters on Ritchie Highway; Howard County uses Columbia on Dobbin Road.
