About the shop

A small, licensed Maryland inspection station and mechanical repair shop that has been at the same Halethorpe address for more than thirty years.

Who you are dealing with

Chuck’s Auto Service, operating under C&R Auto Repair

Chuck’s Auto Service is the name on the door. C&R Auto Repair is the name the shop operates under.

Same shop, same address, same phone: 2240 Monumental Ave, Halethorpe, MD 21227, (410) 247-5384. On the state’s inspection-station register it is station 6921.

Inspection is what this site leads with, but it is not all the shop does — mechanical repair, brakes, front end and more happen here too.

The license

Licensed for more than the average station

Maryland licenses inspection stations per vehicle class. Most independent shops hold Class A and nothing heavier. Station 6921 is licensed for Class A, Class C and Class T — cars, anything over 10,000 lb, and trailers without air brakes.

Statewide, 77 of Maryland’s 1,527 licensed stations hold Class C, and 58 of those also hold Class A — figures from the Maryland State Police station register, read in September 2026.

How the shop runs

A full week, and a license that covers the heavy stuff

Two things shape how this place works day to day, and both are worth knowing before you plan a visit.

  1. Weekdays, 8 to 5

Monday through Friday, the shop is open 8:00am to 5:00pm — a regular working day, every day of the week.

  2. Saturday by appointment

Call ahead and Saturday is available too. It is not a walk-in day — the shop needs to know you are coming.

  3. Sunday is closed

The form on this site still works — messages get picked up when the doors open again.

  4. Heavy vehicles: call ahead

Class C work needs the right bay free. A car can usually just turn up; a truck over 10,000 lb or anything on a trailer should ring first.

Where it is

Off Hollins Ferry Road, inside the Beltway’s southwest corner

Monumental Ave sits in the industrial pocket of Halethorpe off Hollins Ferry Road, close to where Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County and Howard County meet. That corner is the reason the catchment is as wide as it is: Lansdowne and Arbutus are minutes away, Elkridge is a straight run down I-95, and Linthicum and Brooklyn Park are a short hop south.

It also means three different MVA branches serve the people who come here — Glen Burnie, Baltimore City and Columbia — depending on which county they title in.
