Getting here

Off Hollins Ferry Road, north of the Beltway’s southwest corner

Monumental Ave is in the light-industrial block off Hollins Ferry Road in Halethorpe — a separate stretch of Monumental Ave from the one near Route 1/Washington Boulevard. Use the map link above for turn-by-turn, and call if you end up going in circles.

From Baltimore County

I-695 (the Beltway) to the Hollins Ferry Road exit on the southwest side, then into Halethorpe. About ten minutes from Catonsville.

From Howard County

From Elkridge, I-95 north to the Halethorpe exits, then Hollins Ferry Road for the last stretch. From Ellicott City, Frederick Road and I-695 east first.

From Anne Arundel

Hammonds Ferry Road north out of Linthicum, or Ritchie Highway to the Baltimore line and then west. Both around fifteen minutes without traffic.

Bringing something heavy or towing a trailer? Call (410) 247-5384 ahead so the right bay is free when you arrive.

Worth knowing before you come

Two things people turn up without

Neither is complicated, and both save a wasted trip.

  1. The vehicle’s weight rating

Gross vehicle weight rating decides the inspection class. It is on the door-jamb sticker of most vehicles. Over 10,000 lb and it is Class C.

  2. Which test you were told to get

A safety inspection and a VEIP emissions test are different things and we only do the first. VEIP is state-run, and the nearest one is at 1411 S. Edgewood Street here in Halethorpe.

  3. Clear access to the vehicle

The inspection includes the underside, the lamps and a road test. A load in the way slows all three down.

  4. Time, if you can spare it

Maryland publishes no official duration for an inspection and we will not invent one. Call and ask how the day is looking before you commit to waiting.
